HOW TO ACHIEVE A WORK-LIFE BALANCE AS A BUSY PROFESSIONAL?

How many of you can wholeheartedly say yes to extra hours of work? Almost 99.9 % of people must be naysayers. Only the person who does their job with great enthusiasm and who thrives deep within that would agree undoubtedly. Did it mean that the people who do their job with their true interest won't hate doing their stuff at any cost? The answer is literally no. This scenario is better interpreted with the proverb, ' Too much of anything is good for nothing '. Even if you get paid abundantly, for doing extra work you are risking yourself for nothing either mentally or physically. Because you are investing your valuable time. Who can give you the time that had gone?

Any action whether it is pulling yourself out of bed at dawn or brushing your teeth. Even though these actions have left a muscle memory to have happened each upcoming day, at some point, you will question its existence and practice. But we do that as a routine, uninterruptedly most often just not to collapse our daily habit. And also it is a matter of priority. We prioritize whatever seems to be important to us. That's it. We are someone who has got some code to do with or perform with each and every surpassing minute. We, humans, can think, alter our plans, can be versatile, can fathom the difficulty of work, stressed out.

Work-life balance:

In this colossal world, where people rush blindly behind money to satisfy the needs of themselves and their families, almost forgot themselves thereby granting anxiety and stress to distort their mental health. It is been estimated that, to lead a peaceful and contented life you need at least $ 75,000 as of now.

The need for maintaining work-life balance:

As an individual, you feel burnout and stressed while being assigned to do extra work. The intensity of the workload that is being assigned or directed to you is directly proportional to the amount of stress that pulls you off the track. Studies show that people who are assigned more obligations and faith or who are given to deal with extra things tend to lose their productivity, effectiveness, and mindfulness.

This void can drive them crazy and indirectly influence them to show their anxiety and stress towards their family members, eventually making cracks in the so-called bowl of love which can never be fixed that perfectly. They end up feeling lost, derailed from their original trace of life, and broke. This condition can depress their mood persistently and makes them engage less in conversations.

To shake these consequences off, one needs to cruise past the dark and have a serene mindfulness.

Causes of poor work-life balance:

  • Overloading of work without getting paid enough for the extra tasks you handle but investing in your entire self.
  • The niche and the crew members with whom you work.
  • Disruption in your circadian rhythm, also known as the sleep-wake cycle.
  • Not finding any time to improve yourself personally
  • Running out late for work.
  • Poor appetite.
  • Low self-esteem.
  • Less inner growth.
  • Striving hard to roll behind promises.
  • Tattered relationships.
  • Anxiety, depression.

Juggling between work, family, relationships, personal growth, mental and physical health, and productivity is that hard, but it is not something you cannot manage. Here are some tips on maintaining a proper work-life balance:

1. Say no :

This is the portion that most people fail to do and ends up leaving them in big trouble. They can't say no because of the notion that the company really needs them or the head of the associate trusts and have huge faith in them. Learn to say no to the things that you cannot manage. Having too much on your plate is something to consider and not ignore. It is also a great time management skill to harness. With that time troubling yourself, spend time wisely by giving an equal proportion of attention to everything you prioritize for healthy living.

2. Value Relationship:

Relationships are the building blocks of your personal happiness. You might not pay attention to that if you are that keen on extending your business associations. As told,

Family

YOU NEVER KNOW HOW IMPORTANT SOMETHING IS UNTIL YOU LOSE IT.

You might value money over relations but money can't get you the happiness that your family gives you. Prioritize your relationships and make them feel like you care for them and you put them first of anything else. The small things you care about in them will put up a smile worth your lifetime.

3. Take Breaks:

It is not uncommon for us, humans to feel stressed out. Once you encounter that you getting derailed away from your usual way, never let yourself go. Track down your true self and in the meantime, show a little activity towards your work side and family.

4. Sympathy towards yourself:

Don't be harsh on yourself at any cost. It is okay to collapse and fall at times. Embracing yourself is the greatest form of mental healing you can provide yourself.

5. Abiding by the schedule:

To attain a perfect work-life balance, schedule the things which are to be performed at your convenience. Sticking to that might be tough initially, but you will get by as time progresses. The schedule must be balanced between the boundaries of prejudice of work and life. Predominance is either of these things can never compact the lost attention towards the other sector.

6. Physical activity:

Involve yourself in physical activity programs or at least have a 30-minute walk daily to attain good peace of mind. Physical fitness can never be parted away from mental fitness.

Studies show that exercise increases the overall mental well-being of an individual by reducing anxiety, stress, and depression and improving memory.

7. Good sleep:

Lack of good sleep might constrict you from performing well at your workplace, absenteeism, and counterproductive behaviors. For a normal human being, at least 7 - 8 hours of sleep is essential. Maintaining a stable sleep time might increase the results of being highly active.

Work-life is the two sides of the coin. If you choose the head, you lose the tail. If you choose the tail, you lose the head. No choosing; only balancing!

8. Mindfulness:

Having a better track of what you truly are and interpreting the path you are treading along comes with practicing meditation. Being self-aware you tend to get clarity in your decision-making and appreciate serene calmness swapping out the chaotic life you lived.
